Extra capacity without a hiring cycle

Hiring a senior engineer or designer can take months, and sometimes you only need the skills for a defined stretch: a product launch, a migration, a backlog that keeps growing. Staff augmentation places senior full-stack, mobile and AI engineers, as well as product and UI designers, inside your team. They use your tools, attend your stand-ups, follow your code review process and report to your leads.

Engagements are billed monthly and work in North American time zones, so there is real overlap with your working day. Every placement comes with a Flowmatix contact who checks in regularly with you and the team member, so any concerns about fit, workload or communication are raised early instead of at the end of the month. If a placement is not working, we discuss a replacement rather than leaving you to manage the problem alone. That backing is the main difference from hiring an independent contractor directly.

How placements work

It begins with a call about your stack, team structure and the outcome you need. We then propose people whose experience matches, and you meet them before anything is agreed. Onboarding is handled the same way you would onboard an employee: access to repositories, tickets and communication channels, plus a first task chosen to get familiar with the codebase.

Because the people are senior, they need little supervision, but they work to your priorities rather than running a separate project. Monthly terms mean you can scale up for a launch and back down afterwards. Arranging a placement usually takes two to eight weeks, depending on the skills required.

When augmentation is the wrong model

It works best when you already have technical leadership to set direction. If you have no one to own the architecture or product decisions, a managed project, where Flowmatix takes responsibility for the outcome, is a better fit.

It is also not a cheap substitute for permanent hiring over many years. For long-term core roles, building your own team usually makes more sense. We are glad to discuss which model fits before proposing anyone.

Frequently asked questions

Can we interview the developer before they start?

Yes. You meet each proposed person and can run a technical conversation, a short paired coding session or a review of their past work. Placements only begin once you and your technical lead are confident in the fit, both for skills and for how they communicate.

Who owns the code they write?

Your company does. Intellectual property and confidentiality terms are set in the agreement before work starts, and all code lives in your repositories from day one. Nothing is held back in our systems, so the work stays with you if the engagement ends.

How much does it cost?

Every Staff Augmentation project is different, so we don't publish a price list. Answer a few questions in our quote builder and you'll get a personalised plan and estimate — compared with market prices and designed around your budget — in about 3 minutes.

Do I own what you build?

Yes. The code, content, accounts and data are yours. No lock-in — leave any time and we'll help you move.
