From our own work: We built this website's search architecture ourselves: 250 indexable pages with structured data, local service-area pages, an llms.txt file for AI assistants, and analytics that only run with consent. See Flowmatix at a glance.

Start with the decision

Research is only useful if it changes a decision. Before a survey is written or an interview booked, the project defines the question you need answered: should we enter this market, which customers should we target, why are we losing deals, how should we price the new service. Everything that follows is designed to answer that question and nothing else, which keeps the work focused and the report short enough to read.

A short scoping session agrees the question, the audience to study, the methods and the date the answer is needed by. If a question cannot be answered well within the budget, that is said plainly at this stage, and a narrower question that can be answered properly is offered in its place.

Methods matched to the question

Customer interviews uncover the language people use, the problems they care about and the reasons they choose one supplier over another. Surveys put numbers on what interviews suggest. Competitor analysis looks at positioning, pricing, offers, reviews and how rivals show up in search and social. Market sizing estimates how many potential buyers exist and what they might spend, using public data and clearly stated assumptions.

These feed into personas that describe real buyer types, with their goals and objections, based on evidence rather than guesswork. Each persona includes the words customers actually use, so marketing copy can mirror them.

What you receive, and who it suits

The findings report puts the answer first, then the evidence, then specific recommendations for marketing, sales, product or pricing. Raw data and interview notes are included, so your team can revisit them later. For ongoing engagements, research is refreshed regularly to track how the market, and your position in it, changes. Findings are presented in a working session, so your team can question them directly.

This suits businesses planning a launch, a new market, a rebrand or a significant marketing investment. It is less useful when the decision is already made and research is wanted only to confirm it. Research done to justify a conclusion rarely tells you anything new.

Frequently asked questions

How many interviews or survey responses do we need?

It depends on the question. For understanding motivations and language, a modest number of in-depth interviews often surfaces the recurring themes. For measuring how common something is, surveys need a larger sample. The research plan states the sample size and why it was chosen.

Can you recruit participants for us?

Yes. Participants can come from your customer list, from people who chose a competitor, or from research panels that match your target audience. Recruitment, screening, scheduling and any thank-you incentives are handled for you.

How much does it cost?

Every Market Research project is different, so we don't publish a price list. Answer a few questions in our quote builder and you'll get a personalised plan and estimate — compared with market prices and designed around your budget — in about 3 minutes.

Do I own what you build?

Yes. The code, content, accounts and data are yours. No lock-in — leave any time and we'll help you move.
